FuriOS 14.0.1: update focused on fixes and performance

On January 27, 2026, FuriOS 14.0.1 was released as the second version based on Debian Forky. This release is a maintenance and performance update, focusing on bug fixes, resource usage optimizations, and significant changes related to GPU performance.

FuriOS is developed as a mobile Linux operating system based on Debian and the GNOME/Phosh environment. Version 14.0.1 rebases all changes on the latest GNOME and Debian packages as of January 15, 2026.

GPU performance changes

FuriOS 14.0.1 introduces major GPU optimizations for FLX1 and FLX1S devices. According to Geekbench 6 GPU tests run in the Andromeda environment, these changes result in a performance increase of approximately 150–200 percent. The update also enables GPU frequency boosting when the system is set to performance mode.

Connectivity and MMS fixes

The update resolves mobile data connectivity issues with selected carriers, including:

  • Neibo (Belgium),
  • CoopVoce (Italy),
  • Telenet (Belgium).

MMS support has been extended to allow attachments other than images, audio, and text, including video and binary files. Crashes caused by malformed MMS SMIL messages sent by other clients have also been fixed.

System-level optimizations

FuriOS 14.0.1 includes multiple changes aimed at reducing CPU and memory usage:

  • optimizations to zram utilization,
  • adjustments to LMKd memory management,
  • fixes for CPU usage spikes related to the assistant button,
  • improvements in V4L2 camera handling to prevent excessive CPU usage when the camera is not yet available,
  • stability fixes in the audio subsystem and during MTP file indexing.

Interface and system tool changes

Additional changes in this release include:

  • reworked backlight brightness handling in Phosh/GNOME,
  • improved scaling of the recovery environment across different screen sizes,
  • updates to charger mode, including a 15-second screen timeout,
  • fixes and improvements in Bootman, including the ability to install Ubuntu Touch without rebooting,
  • resolution of a store provider regression introduced in version 14.0.0.

System update

FuriOS 14.0.1 can be installed through the software store via the updates section or manually from the terminal using standard apt commands.

The release applies to devices from Furi Labs, including the FLX1 and FLX1S models.
