FuriOS 14.0.2 officially released: external display support and performance boosts

FuriOS 14.0.2 is now available, introducing one of the most requested features for the FLX1 lineup—external display support via the FLH1 Convergence Hub.

This update also delivers significant performance improvements, modem fixes, and enhancements to the Android layer.

Key Features

External Display Support via FLH1
Users can now connect their FLX1 or FLX1s devices to an external monitor using the FLH1 Convergence Hub, enabling a full GNOME desktop experience. This release adds comprehensive display support, making convergence a seamless part of the FuriOS experience.

Performance and Power Management
ZRAM capacity has been increased on both the FLX1 and FLX1s, improving performance under memory pressure. The Batman power-saving daemon has been rewritten in C, making it more responsive to real user behavior rather than relying on fixed schedules.

Core System Updates
FuriOS 14.0.2 is now based on GNOME 50 and the latest Debian updates as of April 10. All FuriLabs forks and plugins have been updated to match. Firefox has been upgraded to version 149, featuring a redesigned UI that moves away from the GNOME theme to a more traditional Firefox look.

Android Layer Improvements
The shared folder system has been reworked to allow full home directory access between FuriOS and the Android container. Notification handling has been optimized, MPRIS stream support has been added for Android apps, and a bug preventing mobile data usage with carriers that restrict hotspot functionality has been fixed.

Modem and Carrier Fixes
Several carrier-specific issues have been resolved, including MMS on Telus Canada, mobile data on Congstar Germany and Lebara France, and roaming on Omnitel Lithuania. Additional fixes address oFono disconnection issues and CBS format bugs affecting a broader range of networks.

Camera and Media Enhancements
Pipewire fixes resolve crashes when switching cameras and restore camera functionality in Flatpak apps like Decoder. Video recording now correctly adjusts output orientation based on device positioning.

Additional Improvements

  • Breath pattern LED notifications via Feedbackd (FLX1).
  • Improved reliability of factory resets on encrypted devices, including full kernel and device tree restoration.
  • Fixed blue tint on emojis in GTK.
  • Enhanced Ubuntu Touch dual boot download and installation process.
